It was a “van-tastic” night at Lochgelly Raceway for the penultimate meeting of the season, which saw different winners in every single race.
The night was headlined by the “Van Bangers”, which raced for the Scottish Championship. 28 Vans took to the track in a record turnout, resulting in what was described as “no end to the carnage.”
Raceway representative Kevin McQueen said: “The vans provided a bit of a carnival atmosphere, with many kids and adults getting photos before they took to the track.
“Some took to the track with radios still in the van with tunes blasting as they raced much to the delight of the huge crowd. In the end, a mere FOUR vans completed race distance, with Paul Barron coming through to retain his Scottish Championship title.
“The other races saw further good turnouts from the vans despite the wreckage on track. Ryan Love found himself on his side, whilst Richard Cairns got stuck in and almost found himself over as well.”
Kailin Bryson took the win in the all-comers race, and Gary Mentiplay won the demolition derby.
The Junior Productions rounded off their 2024 campaign with more racing. Kaitlyn Smart triumphed in the opening heat, which was her final junior production appearance/ Aiden Duffy and Lee Moore both achieved wins in subsequent races.
Three different drivers achieved wins in the Stock Rods category. Teri Linden won the opening heat, before John Lee Green won heat number two, and Dean McGill topped the final. Sean Naismith secured the track championship, holding the lead by just four points!
The National Hot Rods saw Ian Donaldson come away with the win in the opening heat, before James Robertson drove to victory in heat 2, whilst Gordon Alexander took victory in the meeting final.
The 2.0 Hot Rods saw race wins go the way of David Frame and Bryan Forrest in the heats – a first race win for Forrest in the 2.0 class, with Charlie Hardie taking the win in the final, after an excellent race with Keith Brown and Bryan Forrest.
