HILL OF BEATH HAWTHORN will be aiming to reach the third round of Scottish Gas Scottish Cup for the second time in their history on Saturday.

Robbie Raeside's men welcome Bo'ness United to Keirs Park with the hope of progressing from round two for the second time in three seasons.

Two years ago, they won at Newtongrange Star to reach the third round of the competition for the first time, where they lost to SPFL League Two side, Elgin City, by a narrow 2-1 scoreline.

The next stage of the tournament will see clubs from both the SPFL Championship, and League One, enter the fray, providing plenty of incentive to make it through.

East of Scotland League, Premier Division Haws have made a good start to the season, with Saturday's 4-1 success at Haddington Athletic leaving them fourth in the table.

Lowland League opponents Bo'ness were in action at Hill of Beath's near neighbours, Cowdenbeath, and the club's general manager, Jock Finlayson, took in the game and watched United squeeze out a 2-1 win.

Raeside is looking forward to the challenge on what will be a big day for the Haws, and he said: "Bo'ness have done well in the Lowland League since winning promotion, but we have had a good start to the season and been creating chances, so it will be very interesting to test ourselves against this sort of opposition.

"It will be a good day for the fans and our aim will be to try and win a place in round three of the Scottish Cup, the stage when the Championship sides come into the competition."

Haws have been scoring goals for fun this season, with 31 in nine Premier League games, so they can go into the tie, which has a 3pm kick-off, with confidence on Saturday.
