COWDENBEATH boss Dougie Hill has suffered another injury setback heading into this weekend's Lowland League clash at Broxburn Athletic.
Right back Greg MacPherson made his comeback after some weeks out with an ankle injury during Saturday's South Challenge Cup tie at Ormiston Primrose, but was forced off with only half-an-hour played.
He is set to miss the trip to Albyn Park and, just when the manager thought a recent spate of knocks was coming to an end, MacPherson's new injury has come at the wrong time.
Although midfielders Mattie McDonald and Aiden McLaughlin will be ready to return to action soon, Hill told Times Sport: "Greg was doing well, then after half an hour he had to come off and he will definitely be out of the Broxburn match.
"Mattie McDonald and Aiden McLaughlin have been in full training for a spell now, and Mattie is likely to be involved this weekend for the trip to Broxburn, with Aiden ready to resume the following week, but losing Greg is a blow."
Despite the disappointment of losing MacPherson, Hill was pleased with the way his team tackled the Ormiston cup assignment, albeit a little disappointed that they did not score more goals in the 4-1 win.
"We had total dominance and created some very good chances, but we missed a few really good opportunities to add to our tally,” he noted.
"Also, we limited them to very few openings, and to not record a shut-out was a little disappointing as our marking was poor at their goal just after half-time."
Cowden, who have yet to record a shut-out this season, will have to be at their best defensively this Saturday against a Broxburn team who sit fifth in the table, with 15 points from nine games, and who have scored 20 goals.
"We have to be at our best in this game, and produce the sort of performance we achieved a couple of weeks ago against Morton in the SPFL Trophy," Hill added.
"If we can repeat our attacking form and also the sound defensive work which almost beat a Championship side, we can get the win we want."
He is likely to stick as close to the line-up which took on Morton, on September 7, as possible, which will see defender Paul McLean and midfielder Sam Newman, who were left out of the starting line-up at Ormiston, back to take on Broxburn.
