KELTY Hearts have suffered an injury blow after it was revealed that Scott Allan suffered a broken wrist during Saturday's draw at Dumbarton.

The 32-year-old was substituted with 20 minutes of their League One outing remaining, which ended in a 2-2 draw, and player / boss, Michael Tidser, has revealed the extent of his injury.

"We're obviously gutted for Scott," he said on Sunday.

"He went straight to the hospital yesterday and it's a broken wrist, and we'll need to keep an eye on it.

"We want to see him back playing but won't rush it."

Allan, who has previously starred for Celtic, Hibernian and Dundee United, moved to New Central Park in the summer after leaving Arbroath, having spent time on loan with Northern Irish champions Larne last season.

The classy midfielder, who has also taken on a first team coaching role, has started all of Kelty's competitive games so far this season.

He has also netted twice, in victories over Stenhousemuir and Arbroath, to help the 'Maroon Machine' to the top of League One with two wins and three draws from their opening five matches.

Allan, however, appears to be a doubt for this Saturday's SPFL Trust Trophy tie with Elgin City, for which Tidser is hopeful of having some of his other injured players back.

Tam O'Ware, who was forced off in the draw with Inverness Caledonian Thistle the previous week, recovered to start the match at Dumbarton, which also saw Lewis Moore return as a substitute.

Liam Brown, Adam Corbett, Robbie Cole and Tidser himself, who was substituted against Caley with a muscle problem, were all still absent from the squad against the Sons, but the player / boss is hopeful "there'll be a few back" for the weekend.

"We played Elgin our League Cup group (which ended 1-1) and they're a good side," he added.

"I think on the day my honest opinion is we should've beaten them. We missed three or four right good chances on the night, but, again, it was just our first game. The boys were gelling together, so we're a slightly different team now, in terms of new ideas and how we want to play, and the boys are adapting really well to it.

"But they're a good side. You can't underestimate anybody, regardless of what division they're in, so we'll fully prepare this week."
