COWDENBEATH have become the treble chance favourites of the Lowland League with four draws from their seven starts, but manager Dougie Hill is looking for a victory when his men travel to Linlithgow this Saturday.

The Blues earned a point with a late flurry against fourth top Caledonian Braves at the weekend, but Hill was a little frustrated that his men didn’t earn all three points against the west of Scotland side.

Facing the string wind in the first period the Blue Brazil seemed to be fairly comfortable, but then a mistake by Ethan Kerr let the visitors in to take the lead.

With the elements in their favour the Blues monopolised the ball, but couldn’t get a goal until midfielder Olly White was upended in the box with three minutes to go and Jamie Docherty did his usual perfect job from the spot.

Hill said: “I felt we were handling the Braves attacks in the first period well but then we make a key mistake at a key moment and turn around behind, and that was very frustrating.

“However, we kept working hard and we should have made more of the many set pieces we had, especially the number of corners we forced in the closing quarter of the game.

“I felt though that we were worth the point, and for long spells were by far the better side, but we need to turn that into a win.”

The manager received good news that attacking full-back, Greg MacPherson, is back in training after recovering from his ankle injury.

He may be in the squad for the trip to Linlithgow, where a win for the Blues would take them above their opponents in the table.

“Linlithgow are a good side but if we can take advantage of our moments when we are dominating in matches and convert our chances we can get the win we want,” he added.

Injured midfielders Aiden McLaughlin and Matty McDonald will be back in action by mid-September with Hill saying the injury issues are slowly improving.
