Stirling University 1 Cowdenbeath 1

THE Blue Brazil will feel unlucky after failing to take all three Lowland League points from an entertaining game at Forthbank Stadium on Wednesday night, writes Andy Mullen.

Cowdenbeath had a much-changed team due to injuries and manager Dougie Hill named himself as a sub with seven players absent.

He also brought in midfielder Shay Burke and wide boy Rhys Walker - the 18-year-old winger on loan from Falkirk - who hit the target on his first start to earn the Blues a point.

With four minutes gone Stirling had the first chance of the night but Finn Moffatt sent his long range shot high and wide.

A minute later Cowden broke the deadlock when debut boy WALKER was set up by Daryl Healy and slotted the ball past keeper Adam Buttigieg from inside the box.

A shot from Burke was then held by Buttigieg and an angled effort from a trialist was tipped onto the post by the keeper and eventually cleared.

Arron Dunsmore blocked a drive from Sam Martin, as the hosts came more into the game, and on the half hour they drew level when Finn MOFFETT fired a 20 yarder into the top corner.

Walker saw his effort from the edge of the area fly over the bar while Sam Newman sent a few inviting crosses into the box which no one was able to get on the end of.

As the first half drew to a close Carter Jenkins tried a long-range lob which went just over the top and landed on the roof of the net.

Five minutes into the second half Cowden almost regained the lead when a free-kick from Healy bounced off the inside of the post.

Both sides had their chances in the second-half and as the game went in to stoppage time both McNab and Jenkins could have snatched the three points for their respective sides.
