LOCAL East of Scotland Premier Division side, Dundonald Bluebell, are searching for a new manager and coaches.

The situation developed at the end of last week when assistant manager Grant Morrice accepted the opportunity to join the backroom team at League 2 side, Bonnyrigg Rose.

He'll join former Moorside coach, Calum Smith, at the ‘Rose and following this manager Stephen Husband decided to step down to give the club the opportunity to form a completely new management team.

Dundonald's Dougie Rogerson explained: “Grant felt that he had to accept the opportunity to move up to a League 2 side, and join Calum Smith at Bonnyrigg, and shortly after Stephen felt he should move on.

“It is a bit of a disappointment for us, but we fully understand the situation and we started our moves to find replacements at the weekend, and we have been delighted with the response so far.

“Hopefully we can speak to candidates in the coming days, and meanwhile Stephen has agreed to take training sessions as the pre-season work continues, and we warmly thank him for this."

A former Dunfermline and Kelty player, Husband has been manager at Dundonald for two seasons, and while last season was not as successful as his first at the helm, through the club being hit by huge number of postponements through the very wet weather experienced last winter, they still finished well up the table.

It meant the team having to play four games a week at times, and the injuries that were experienced meant the team had to battle for wins late on in the Premier Division campaign. However, the team still finished among the top nine clubs in the table.

Rogerson added: “We would like to thank Stephen, Grant and Calum for their work for the Bluebell.”
