HISTORIC Central Fife junior football club Crossgates Primrose have folded, the club have confirmed.
The Humbug Park outfit have been consigned to the history books following a meeting of the club's committee last night (Thursday).
Earlier this year, former manager David McNeely and secretary Kevan McArthur issued a plea for volunteers to join the club's committee in a bid to prevent them pulling the plug.
Despite starting the new South Division season, a lack of support in carrying out work behind the scenes has led the club - which was reformed in 1983 after the original team, founded in 1926, folded in 1960 - to close its doors once again.
Primrose, famous for producing Scotland legend Jim Baxter, were bottom of the South Division table and their final matched ended in an 8-0 thrashing at Easthouses Lily. Their results will now be expunged.
We will have more on this story in next week's Central Fife Times.
