FORMER Livingston midfielder Jack Beaumont has signed on at Central Park to boost Colin Nish’s title-chasing squad.
The 20-year-old, a product of Hutchison Vale Boys Club, crossed the Forth after a five year spell with the Almondvale outfit.
Nish has also welcomed back John Armstrong, Kenny Adamson, Kyle Miller and Chris Kane, who have agreed new deals, while Pat Scullion’s arrangement has been extended for another season. Beaumont made 14 appearances for Livingston and will be hoping to make an impression at Central Park as Cowden aim to bounce back into the Championship.
Nish has lost Nat Wedderburn and Darren Brownlie, to Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Queen of the South respectively, and acknowledged the need to strengthen, particularly in goal after Robbie Thomson’s departure to Palmerston.
He said, “The squad is looking good and of the ones out contract, we’ve got all the ones we wanted signed up.
“It would’ve been nice to have kept Darren but Queens are a full-time club and in the Championship, so we wish him all the best.
“We’ve got the basis of a good squad who have been good Championship players that we think will do well for us next season.
“We do need to add a few but there is no rush. You want to add the best players that you can and we are ambitious so we are looking at good players.” He continued, “We’ve got lists drawn up of players and areas we need to strengthen but I do need to sign a goalkeeper because at the moment we’ve only got young Jamie Sneddon.
“It is a work in progress and we may look at signing another defender, but if someone of good quality becomes available all over the park then we would look at them.” Nish paid tribute to Wedderburn and said, “Nat has done well and it is great for him and the club. It shows that we are a stepping stone for players to get to that level and that we are producing players that other clubs want.
“The loan market is something I will definitely look at but we’ve managed to get a good base to work from.
“I know a lot of the guys from playing with them last year and they are a great bunch who will give us that extra wee bit, so I am really pleased.” The updated list of signed players for 2015/16 for Cowdenbeath is now Kenny Adamson, John Armstrong, Jack Beaumont, Dean Brett, Liam Callaghan, Declan Hughes, Shaun Hunter, Craig Johnston, Chris Kane, Lewis Milne, Kyle Mitchell, Colin Nish, Pat Scullion, Jamie Sneddon, Greig Spence, Josh Thomson, Josh Wilson and Jack Wright.
