AFTER Saturday's disappointing Scottish Cup exit at Lochgelly, Kelty Hearts have parted company with manager Willie Newbigging.
The club's committee announced their decision on Wednesday after a run of competitive games without a win.
And they have moved swiftly to plug the gap by appointing captain Tam Courts (32) to the position of player/boss.
A statement issued on the club's website said that it was a unanimous decision and it added, "Tam's short term strategy is to get points on the board in the Super League and get belief back into the squad." Hearts have now gone 15 games without a win culminating in Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Gardiner's Park.
While the club have a friendly on Saturday at home to Newburgh due to Tam and Allan Fleming being in the Scottish Junior squad in Ireland, the new boss will have to wait until next midweek to meet up with his new charges for the first time as boss due to his Scotland involvement.
