I HOPE that the perpetrators of the malicious blaze at the Meedies before Benarty Gala Day will not have been folk from the area.
It was a horrible thing for these people to do on one of the Benarty community's biggest weekends of the year.
Why oh why torch the portable loos that were there purely to allow the gala go ahead, other than an evil belief that they could stop the event taking place.
The thing is that all they really did was make the people of the Events Group even more determined to make the day on Sunday go ahead and to a person that was there at the park, they all felt it was the right thing to do.
The Benarty Events Group are a hard working bunch and they certainly would not be in any way put off by the fire, albeit it was a real community effort, with these local business people helping ensure that the replacements were in place in time for Sunday's parade.
No doubt the police will have their own ideas what happened and possible suspects, but it would be sad indeed if they were local folk who caused this.
To see the wee kids' delight at enjoying the day was a pleasure and the thought that it could have all been scuppered by the reckless act of whoever caused the fire was repulsive.
So all power to the Events Group, well done and now on to Rockore in August.
FIREY RESPONSE,
Kildownie Crescent,
Ballingry.
