A Cardenden man and his band are up for an award at the prestigious Scots Trads Music Awards 2024.
Michael Philip is up for the award of Scottish Dance Band of the Year, sponsored by National Association of Accordion and Fiddle Clubs.
The popular local accordionist and chieftain of Bowhill Highland Games said that he was “fair chuffed” with the nomination and will be going along to the awards ceremony on Saturday, November 30.
On Sunday, November 10, the band also played at a memorial concert for a well-known Cardenden music teacher.
As previously reported in the Press, Joe Burke passed away in 1980 at just 43 years old, throughout his life he had a massive impact on the lives of his students and his community.

To commemorate everything he did for the village and surrounding areas, a memorial event was held to raise funds to give him a headstone.
Those playing in the band at the concert were Michael, Graham Derry, James Coutts, Anya Johnston, and Arran Philip.
Michael told the Times: “We are busy playing across the country and the world really as a unit or soloists.
“We are kept on our toes!”
The Scot Trad Awards will take place on November 30 at Inverness Leisure Centre.
The awards will be broadcast on BBC ALBA from 9pm.
