A violent domestic offender from Cowdenbeath avoided a jail sentence but has been warned he could still end up there.

Oliver Yeaman, 24, who still has more than 160 hours of unpaid work to do, was back in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for offences going back more than five years.

Yeaman previously admitted that between November 1, 2019 and and July 31,2022, at addresses in Cowdenbeath, Cardenden and Lochgelly and elsewhere, he engaged in an abusive course of behaviour towards his then partner.

He repeatedly kicked a front door, damaging it, repeatedly seized her by the neck, shouted, swore and made threats of violence.

He also admitted that on July 29 this year at Main Street, Lochgelly, he assaulted his partner’s mum by elbowing her to the body and striking her on the face.

He further admitted that between September 19 and 30 he breached bail conditions by repeatedly approaching and contacting his ex-partner.

On July 30, 2022 at Henderson Street, Lochgelly, he struck a car with a crowbar causing the windscreen to smash.

On the same day, at Woodside, Cowdenbeath, he smashed the windscreen of a van, again with a crowbar.

He has one court order with four hours still to be done and another order with 160 hours and none of that has been done.

Defence solicitor Aime Allan said: “He understands he needs to buck up his ideas and do these hours.”

Sheriff Susan Duff said the sentences had been an alternative to a custodial sentence.

She told Yeaman: “This order is not going to go away unless you end up in custody. What are you going to do?”

“I’m going to do the hours,” he replied.
