A LOCHGELLY gym community weighed in to raise over £5,000 for a local man who has been diagnosed with MND.

Aeternum Crossfit organised the event at their business park base which saw around 80 people push themselves through a box step up work out.

Organiser Dean Jarvis, one of the coaches at the facility, said the fundraiser was one they choose a different cause for every year.

"We chose that workout which is named after Chad Wilkinson who was in the armed services and used the work out with the back pack," he explained.

The whole Aeternum gym community does this work out as a memorial on memorial day or veteran's day in memory of him."

This year's good cause was chosen as it was one close to the heart of one of the gym's members.

"He has been diagnosed with MND and is a friend of one of the girls that comes to the gym," added Dean.

I said we could charge the people that want to do it £10 a head and that all goes to the cause. We got some home baking too.

"It wasn't just members, it was opened up to families and friends. We did a bonus ball for a year's gym membership and some members ran sponsor sheets.

"One raised about £2,000 alone and another guy was about £1,000. So with everything, it was over £5000 to the cause.
