Annabelle Ewing MSP has paid tribute to former first minister Alex Salmond.
The MSP for Cowdenbeath signed the Book of Condolence at the Scottish Parliament, praising his "extraordinary contribution" to Scotland's history.
The text of her message in the book says: "It was a privilege to have been your colleague in two parliaments and to have walked beside you on the journey.
"Your loss to Scotland's cause is unquantifiable and you will be so very much missed.
"Thank you for inspiring a nation."
The book has been placed in the Garden Lobby of the parliament building to enable MSPs, their staff, and Parliament staff to pay their tributes.
Speaking later, Ms Ewing added: "Scotland has lost a most extraordinary man.
"We will not see his likes again."
