COWDENBEATH STATION is to implement new changes to ticket office opening hours.

ScotRail has announced there will be changes to some ticket office opening hours to reflect changing travel and ticket purchasing patterns.

These changes do not affect trains stopping at the station and no ticket offices will close.
The current open times at Cowdenbeath on Monday to Fridays are 0630-1300, Saturdays from 0930-1300, and it is closed on Sundays.

Under the changes, it will now be open from 0810-1050 on Monday to Thursdays, 0900-1145 on Fridays, 0900-1300 on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays.

In 2021, ScotRail published an assessment which showed a dramatic increase in the number of tickets purchased on the ScotRail website, app, or at ticket machines. There was also a significant decrease in customers buying at ticket offices.

There has been a 50 per cent drop in ticket office sales in the past ten years.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail customer operations director, said: “The independent passenger watching Transport Focus carried out an extensive consultation on these proposals, which received feedback from thousands of people across Scotland.

“We have listened to our customers and updated our proposals based on that feedback.

“These changes will provide a service that is better suited for today and the ticket-buying habits of our customers, as well as create an environment that improves safety and customer support.”
