Two Cowdenbeath care home workers raised £950 to benefit elderly residents, by taking part in a sponsored bungee swing.
Care assistant Joni Doig and cook Diane Drysdale feel so strongly about their line of work, that that decided to go out and raise funds for the residents at the town’s Chambers Court.
Miss Doig said: “What we do is so rewarding. We just want to put a smile on the residents faces.
“It feels good to help them and do special things for them, but you’re also putting their relatives at ease because they know their family is being well looked after.
“We wanted to raise some funds so we can buy the residents fish suppers and take them for days out. It’s money for fun stuff like Halloween things, wee games to play, and parties.”
Discussing the sponsored bungee swing, she said: “I’ve always fancied doing something like it but didn’t have a good reason. I thought that if we do it for charity we really can’t chicken out.
“Once it was booked and we had people donating to us we knew that we had to do it.
“It was absolutely amazing, and such a thrill. I was absolutely petrified when we got up there. As soon as they let you go your heart is in your mouth, but one of the best experiences ever.
Chambers Court is operated by the Fife company Abbotsford Care. Miss Doig said: “Diane’s been with them for over fifteen years, and is certainly adventurous for a 61-year-old
“I asked the young people at work if they wanted to get involved, and nobody was up for it, so the fact that she came forward is amazing.”
