FIFE'S first permanent jewellery studio has opened up shop in Cardenden.

Pretty Links were one of the OG's in the East of Scotland when it comes to permanent jewellery, they started up over a year ago doing events and have now expanded- opening a base of operations on Station Road.

Run by mum and daughter duo, Siobhan and Ellie, they offer a range of customisable permanent and costume jewellery.

Siobhan told the Times: "We’ve been doing this for a year. I think there’s only one other company on the east of Scotland that beat us to the punch, they started a couple of months before us. We’re one of the OG’s

"Me and my daughter wanted to have a business together, that we could both work on, and the both of us are quite creative, we’ve always been quite arty – well my daughter certainly has. We were looking to get something in the market that was still new and wasn't over-saturated, albeit it is starting to get like that now.

"We usually do events but we decided to open a studio so we had a base as well. What we find is, when we go to events people ask ‘Oh how do I see you next’ and it's quite difficult.

"We opened the studio to be able to see people in there as well as doing events and online orders."

While more and more people are getting into the permanent jewellery game, Pretty Links is affiliated with Sunstone Permanent Jewellery which develops the machinery used.

This is also their only focus, Siobhan explained: "It’s not a sideline for us, it's the only thing we dedicate ourselves to, we don't do anything else bar jewellery."

Offering customisable and unique pieces, both permanent and removable, in a choice of sterling silver, gold-filled, 9-carat gold and real gold, Siobhan and Ellie have found that people just keep coming back.

She continued: "Every piece is different, if customers have something in their head and we don't have it then we’ll order it or source the market to find it, if we can't find it then we’ll get one of our stockists to make it- so we try to make it as customized as possible while using the best material.

"There's no clasp so nothing tangles, you’ve not got clasp slippage where for instance in a wedding photo you’ve not got a clasp sitting where it shouldn't be. It’s not like a tattoo but it signifies a permanent bond so we tend to get sisters, boyfriends and girlfriends, mum and daughters.

"What we’re finding is we’re getting a lot of repeat customers. It just gives people that wee bit of an extra experience when buying jewellery."

Pretty Links is open from Thursday to Saturday, from 10 am to 5 pm. Appointments and events can be booked through by emailing prettylinks@yahoo.com or by messaging on social media
