COWDENBEATH Rotary Club is to have a strong influence locally in the 2024 Poppy Appeal.
The club’s John Bald, from Cardenden, himself a former member of the armed forces, and a person who gives talks on all aspects of the Second World War to community groups all over central Scotland, will be front and centre.
He'll be spending several days selling poppies at Cowdenbeath’s Morrison’s store in the run-up to Remembrance Day on Sunday, November 10.
John told club members: “I have been very fortunate to take part in Poppy Appeal Week for some years and this year I am looking forward to spending several days in the Morrison’s store, giving people the chance to get a poppy and support current and former members of the armed forces.”
But he will not be at Morrison’s on November 2, as he will be selling poppies at the Lidl store in the town that day!
The club will have another representative ‘manning the fort’ then.
John has an impressive collection of World War Two memorabilia, some of which he takes with him when he is selling poppies, so no one at Morrison’s or Lidl will miss him!
