A NEW prize bingo venue and shop is set to open in Ballingry today (Friday).
Brian Clark has been busy closing down his stall at Errol Market in Perth and moving everything into the empty unit beside China Star and Dear Pharmacy on Benarty Square.
The unit has been used as storage in recent years and Brian has been hard at work- with help from his parents, Jim and Rita- transforming it into a prize bingo venue and store.
He told the Times: "At the market, it was one day a week and when we came here we thought it would be beneficial to the community, there's not a lot going on so it stands more of a chance here and we’re giving something back to the community."
They plan to operate from 10 am to 3 pm during the week and from 2 pm to 7 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
He continued: "We spoke to one of the locals here and she said these times were the best times for them and a group of them all go off to play bingo elsewhere.
"We’re not aiming to be open till 10 pm at night, people falling out the pub and wanting to have a drink in here!"
Brian wants to ensure that the community is at the focus of his business, creating three jobs for local people and has hopes to donate to local charities in the future.
To welcome in the community, he is holding a grand opening today (Friday, October 4) complete with bingo and a raffle- with the first 36 people receiving a free raffle ticket.
One game of bingo is just £2, one line is one win and a full house is two wins- collect your wins and redeem them for a prize.
Tea or coffee and a biscuit is available for £1.50 and cans of juice will also be on sale.
