A BALLINGRY man has been given an additional jail sentence after throwing a catheter full of urine at a prison officer.

The culprit was 39-year-old drugs trafficker Adam Bett who had only arrived in the prison a few days earlier and has now been given more time behind bars.

Bett appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court by video-link from HMP Glenochil prison.

He admitted that on April 20, he assaulted a prison officer by removing his catheter, throwing it at him, striking him on the body and covering him with urine.

Depute fiscal Sean Iles said prison officers had gone to Bett’s cell after he had pressed his emergency button.

He was complaining about being in pain and said he had not been given his medication.

In an agitated state he threw the catheter towards the officer.

Sheriff Neil Bowie described Bett’s actions as “disgusting” and jailed him for an additional 200 days.

On April 10, Bett had been jailed for two years for trafficking heroin to Shetland.
