A PRIMARY school in Cowdenbeath has launched its new community lounge.

Opened as part of a Macmillan Coffee morning on 27 September, Sainty’s Snug at St Bride’s Primary School, is aiming to improve parental engagement.

The opening included two of the Mini Vinnie pupils making a speech, a song from the primary six class, a speech from headteacher Jo-Anne Angel, and then ribbon cutting by pupil support officer at St Columba’s High School, Kelly Thomson.

The event was finished with a song from the primary two/three class and a chance to mingle.

Jill Logan, a teacher at the school who has been heavily involved in the lounge’s creation, previously told the Times: “It’s going to be there for years. It’s been a real sort of positive journey so far, it’s been great getting the wider community involved.

“Everyone seems really excited about it.”

“This morning's event coincided with MacMillan's Coffee Morning with a huge variety of sweet treats and cakes on offer thanks to the generosity of parents, carers, and staff.

“Sincere thanks must go to Mrs Angel, Mrs Logan, and Leigh from the Parent Council for the very kind invitation and warm welcome.

“It was great to meet Kelly, Pupil Welfare Officer from St Columba's, and learn more about her role supporting pupils with the transition to High School.

“I hope Sainty's Snug is well received and offers a huge benefit to the school and wider community, and I wish everyone the very best of luck.”
