LESS THAN half of people at the best ranked GP for speaking to a mental health professional gave it a positive response.

Benarty Medical Centre only had 45.1% of respondents give a positive response for their access to mental health professionals, despite being the best ranked GP in that category according to the Scottish Government’s Health and Care Experience Survey.

The worst practice in this regard was Crossgates Medical Practice; 63.6% reported access to medical health support as negative.

However, when it came to care provided Benarty scored highly again. 72.8% of those surveyed from Benarty Medical Centre gave a positive response.

Only 6.6% gave the practice a negative response for care.

On the other hand, Lochgelly Medical Practice had the most negative responses for their care, with 43.3%. Close behind is Crossgates Medical Practice with 31.3% negative responses.

When it comes to getting to speak to a doctor, Benarty Medical Centre again had the most positive responses at 72.3%.

Lochgelly Medical Practice was the lowest rated practice in this regard with 49.2% negative responses.

These figures came from the Health and Care Experience Survey which asks a random sample of people registered with a GP in Scotland about their experiences.

It asks for people’s opinions on a range of issues including the quality of information given by the receptionist, the opening hours of the practice, and the arrangements for speaking to a physiotherapist.
