A NUMBER of shows are set to be performed in Lochgelly and Cowdenbeath, including one honouring a local heroine.
The line-up, which has been put together as a part of OnFife's Autumn schedule, aims to provide something for everyone and is set to run from November until January of next year.
OnFife’s community events and programme manager, Karen Taylor said: “Now’s the time to book early for the best seats and prices or to take advantage of the lower-priced concessions available for most shows.
“By supporting a fantastic array of community-based shows and professional theatre, we're helping keep live entertainment accessible to all in our local communities."
Starting off the programme is Jennie Lee: Tomorrow Is A New Day, which chronicles the life of the celebrated political activist who was born in Lochgelly in 1904.
She became Britain’s youngest-ever female MP when she was elected for North Lanark in 1929 at the age of 24 – before she could legally vote.
After the death of her husband Nye Bevan, the founder of the NHS, she fought to protect his legacy and went on to become the first-ever Minister for The Arts and founder of The Open University.
Playwright Matthew Knights describes his drama as a "story about fighting to be true to your ideals in a world that wants to crush them".
The production is supported by Creative Scotland, OnFife and The Open University in Scotland.
This play’s premiere takes place close to what would have been Jennie’s 120th birthday, on November 3.
It will be shown in Lochgelly Centre on November 1-2 before moving on to Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline on November 12-13.
Anyone buying 10 tickets or more can enter the code JENNIE at the check-out to qualify for one free full-price ticket.
For bookings of 20 or more, people should visit the box office.
Other shows to look forward to at Lochgelly Centre include Britain’s Got Talent sensations Cameron Young and Lewis Fuller, who present An Evening of Magic on October 26.
Upcoming musical tribute shows include The Greatest Hits of Thin Lizzy on October 10, We Three Kings of Rock ‘N’ Roll on October 11 and the Ready Steady 60s show on November 9.
Local musical talent will have its chance to shine in Cowdenbeath Community Theatre’s Puss In Boots from December 4-7.
Two shows by Nardone’s Academy of Performing Arts will also be taking to the stage, 9 to 5: The Musical from October 3-5, and Dick Whittington from December 10-14.
On the horizon for early next year is Playhouse Theatre Company’s hip-swivelling, lip-curling musical comedy All Shook Up, which runs from January 16-18.
