Yellow weather warning in Fife for rain and thunderstorms

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, covering much of the east side and southern half of the country, while the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) have a flood alert in place for the Kingdom. 

They said: "Whilst many places will miss them, thunderstorms may cause flooding and disruption in places on Monday."

The weather warning is in place for all of Monday, from midnight to midnight.

Listing what we can expect, the Met Office went on: "Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services

"There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost

"Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, with a small chance that some communities could be temporarily cut off by flooded roads

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds."

Sepa have also issued a flood alert for Fife. 

The environment watchdog said: "Heavy showers with the risk of thunder from mid Sunday afternoon and throughout Monday could cause flooding impacts from surface water and rivers.

"Particularly at risk are urban areas and the transport network.

"Impacts may include flooding to low-lying land and roads, difficult driving conditions and disruption to travel. Isolated properties may also be at risk."
