A "PREDATOR" from Lumphinnans who sexually abused two young boys has been jailed for four years.

Robert Brown, 59, was sentenced at Dunfermline Sheriff Court after being found guilty at a trial earlier this month of offences between 2003 and 2005 and from 2011 to 2014.

The victims were nine and 14 when the abuse began and the offences took place at addresses he was living at.

Detective Constable David Adamson said: “Brown is a predator and is rightly behind bars for his crimes.

"He is unable to inflict any further pain and suffering on young children.

"I hope that knowing he is imprisoned offers his victims some consolation as they continue to go forward with their lives.”

The first case involved a boy aged 14 -15 who was indecently assaulted.

The abuse took place on various occasions between 22nd June 2003 and 21st June 2005 at Hilton View, Lumphinnans, Blairadam Forest, Kelty and various roads in Fife.

Brown made a sexual remark to him, touched and rubbed his body whilst showing him pornographic videos, masturbated him, induced the boy to masturbate him and performed oral sex on him.

The victim said there was usually plenty of alcohol to be had at Brown’s home and he would go there to drink, smoke and play video games along with a friend.

Brown groomed the boy by taking him to Blairadam Forest and allowing him to drive his car.

However, he would grope the boy when this was happening.

The second victim was aged 9 -12 years and the abuse took place on various occasions between 17th March 2011 and 16th March 2014, at Robert Smith Court, Lumphinnans.

Brown showed him pornographic videos and sexually assaulted the boy, caused him to participate in sexual activity, masturbated in his presence, caused the boy to masturbate him, masturbated the boy and performed oral sex on him.

Police were alerted to the offences in June 2022 when officers received a report of sexual abuse. An investigation was launched and officers arrested Robert Brown in January 2023.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse is encouraged to report it to police, not matter how long ago the offences occurred."
