TWO best friends from Kelty - Cece McCann and Hannah Finlayson - like Oor Wee Cafe so much they set about raising some much-needed funds for it.
Eight-year-old Cece asked her mum about running a lemonade stand or a bake sale in their front garden, but the firm response was 'No'.
Her mum Lou then asked her: "Why do you want to do a bake sale?"
Cece explained that she wanted to raise money for Oor Wee Café, which operates every Tuesday from Kelty Community Centre, offering free meals and companionship to those who need it.
Seeing the determination on her daughter's face, and being a volunteer herself, Lou gave her blessing.
Without hesitation, Cece called and shared the idea with her best friend, seven-year-old Hannah, whom she had known since nursery.
Mum Kayleigh said that Hannah had formed an inseparable bond with Cece, who has Vater syndrome - a complex condition that affects several parts of the body - and has had three major operations since the age of three.
“Cece worships Hannah. They are very supportive and helpful to each other,” Lou added.
For the first time the best pals will be in the same class with the same teacher at Kelty Primary School as the new session begins, and both parents are waiting with baited breath at the prospect!
The mums said that the girls planned every detail of their venture.
Cece baked more than 100 cupcakes, Hannah made an Old Shed Cake, crispy cakes and top hats.
Members of both families were enlisted to contribute also.
After lots of planning, a space was granted at the entrance of the community centre and the bake sale took place on Wednesday August 7.
It was scheduled to run from 1pm to 3pm, but everything was sold out in an hour!
The girls raised £137 but it didn't end there as the kind-hearted girls decided that handing over the money was not enough!
Cece and Hannah decided to do the shopping too, buying food that could be easily prepared and some treats for the café’s clients.
Both mums expressed how proud they are of their daughters' achievement, working together and providing excellent customer service.
“A blessing to have such kind, caring and thoughtful daughters,” Lou said.
"The girls? They would happily do it all over again, next year!"
