SCOTTISH FIRE and Rescue Services (SFRS) were called back to Lochore Meadows Country Park yesterday (Wednesday) for the second blaze in as many days.
Crews were in attendance for hours after receiving reports of a large gorse fire late morning, deploying two appliances and a specialist vehicle to the scene.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 11.08am on Wednesday, 31 July to reports of a large area of gorse on fire at Lochore Meadows Country Park.
“Operations Control initially mobilised two appliances and a specialist vehicle to the scene and we have continued to have resources at the scene on a number of occasions to ensure the area is made safe.
"We are no longer in attendance."
A "sharp increase" in incidents has prompted the Lochgelly Community Fire Station to take to social media and encourage locals to be cautious.
They wrote: "Our crews have seen a sharp increase of incidents at Lochore Meadows recently.
"Whether you're enjoying the outdoors, remember to be cautious with fire. Ensure campfires are extinguished, dispose of cigarette butts responsibly, and report any signs of smoke/fire."
