INITIAL plans to extend a power substation near Cardenden have been lodged.

Scottish Power Energy Networks have lodged a Proposal of Application notice for a substation extension and associated works at the existing Westfield Substation.

Consultation is now likely over the next 12 weeks before a formal planning application can be submitted.

Earlier this year, SPEN held a public consultation event for plans for 14km of underground power cables running from the area to the Fife coast.

The firm revealed its hopes to dig up land and instal infrastructure from Westfield Green Energy Park, which is between Ballingry and Kinglassie, all the way to Kinghorn.
