THE founder of a Lochgelly-based charity has said a £20,000 lottery funding award will help them move their services forward and thrive.

Hyperclub is one of 500 community projects to scoop a share of more than £17 million allocated to groups from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The charity opened its base on the town's High Street at the beginning of the year to help children and young people with additional needs.

Suzie Connnelly, who set up the charity back in 2012 in Inverkeithing, was delighted with the financial boost.

"We are so lucky and fortunate to receive this funding," she said.

"Hopefully, that's just the start, and people will recognise the importance of these projects and how it is vital to help and support people to come together and create additional services for them to access.

"We are using the funding to support us to create additional activities and materials required to help us deliver a successful service that people can engage in and enjoy a comfortable and relaxing environment.

"This is also going to enable us to offer some employment opportunities for some of our volunteers and younger members who work extremely hard to support our members of the public and the children and adults we support."

Suzie said they are constantly looking to gain funding to help with their efforts.

"We all participate within sponsored walks, skydiving, and singing at parties or events, so everyone involved is working really hard to deliver a great variety of services and as cheap as we can as people just don't have a lot of money these days," she added.

"One day, we hope to become self-sufficient and perhaps be able to extend the activities further.

"We are looking into providing a transport service for the children's groups to enable us to take them out on trips and create a school pick up service so parents don't have to stress about child care before and after school hours.

"Without the funding, we would not be able to provide so many services it's helping us to move forward and thrive. We are so grateful to the lottery team."
