A 32-YEAR-OLD man drove dangerously, causing a crash, when he was well over the limit for cocaine and had a child as a passenger.
John Kay, of Cluny Park, Cardenden, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He had previously admitted that on January 16, 2022, on the B981 Kirkcaldy East to Cluny, he drove when over the limit for cocaine.
His reading was 98 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood, the limit being 10 microgrammes.
Kay was also found guilty of another charge after a trial.
This was that he drove a vehicle dangerously.
Whilst conveying his young child as a passenger he drove at excessive speeds, failed to brake, causing his vehicle to collide with the rear of a stationary vehicle with a driver and passenger inside, propelling it into another stationary vehicle.
This was in turn pushed into another stationary vehicle. Whereby all the vehicles were damaged and three people in these cars were injured. Kay himself was seriously injured.
Sheriff Garry Sutherland imposed a five-year driving ban and until Kay passes the extended test. He also imposed a community payback order with 200 hours of unpaid work.
