ROADWORKS that will last for almost two weeks are set to begin on a major route near Lochgelly from Sunday.

Motorists will face lane closures and overnight convoys on the A92, until Friday July 12, as new vehicle safety barriers are installed on the east and westbound verges under the overbridge near Westerton Farm, around half-a-mile west of the B9149 junction.

The work will take place from Sunday to Thursday each week between 7.30pm and 6.30am, and this Sunday, there will be closures on lane one, and an overnight convoy, to allow a temporary barrier to be installed.

From Monday to Thursday July 4, and from Sunday July 7 to Wednesday July 10, lane one will be closed both east and westbound, whilst lane one closures, and an overnight convoy, will take place on Thursday July 11 in both directions to enable the removal of the temporary barrier.

Lane closures will be lifted each morning at 6.30am, and a 50mph speed limit will be in place for the duration of the work.

The improvements, which are being undertaken by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland, are part of a £480,000 project to deliver safety improvements on three sections of the A92.

The schemes are being carried out back-to-back in order to minimise long term disruption to the travelling public, and are set to benefit more than 50,000 vehicles who use the route on a daily basis.

Traffic management details relating to the two further A92 schemes will be issued in due course.
