CACA Junior Youth Club saw the summer holidays in with a splash on their annual water night.

Cowdenbeath Area Community Association was set up at Beath High School after a public meeting aired the view that there was not enough for local youngsters to do.

A committee was then set up to organise a family club run by volunteers, and has now been running for almost 50 years.

Youngsters from primary four to seven (ages eight to 12) took it in turns to head down the waterslide at the annual water night. The event took place on Friday, June 21.

The water night marks the beginning of the summer break and 162 youngsters turned up.

CACA’s Alex Haddow commented: “On a normal night we have anything between 140 to 160 kids, on a good night we can have anything up to 200, it’s because we have the facilities at the school.

“The kids love it. Every year there has been times we thought could we do this more than once a year, but I think it would lose the excitement of it.

“The kids love water night, there’s nothing better than actually seeing kids outside!”

CACA Youth Club has children attending from a range of locations including Ballingry, Lumphinnans, Kelty and Crossgates.

They are now even onto their third generation of youngsters from the same families that have been attending the club for years.
