A 23-year-old Lochgelly woman who assaulted police officers by punching and kicking them has been put on a tag.

Leah Taylor committed the offence almost two years ago and was back in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court to be sentenced again.

She had been put on a community payback order with unpaid work but breached it.

After repeated warnings and various reasons put forward for not doing the unpaid work, she was told to “stop coming up with excuses”.

Sheriff Allan Findlay has now put Taylor on a restriction of liberty order for three months.

Taylor, of Foote Street, previously admitted that on 3rd July 2022 at the Hampton Court Hotel, Renfrew Street, Glasgow, she assaulted a female police officer by attempting to punch and headbutt her.

She also assaulted two other officers by punching and kicking them.

Depute fiscal Lauren Pennycook said police officers had been gone to the hotel to investigate a reported breach of bail.

Taylor was arrested and tried to bite one of the officers putting handcuffs on her.

She then swung a punch, kicked an officer on the leg and tried to headbutt one of them.

At a previous hearing Sheriff Susan Duff told Taylor: “Don’t keep coming up with excuses.”
