ROAD safety measures are set to be added on Lochleven Road in Ballingry after councillors approved a plan to install a speed bump.

Members of the Cowdenbeath Area Committee waved through proposals to install a raised table on the B920 following ongoing concerns over safety.

After councillors agreed initial proposals back in February, they were told that the design had progressed and required rubber stamping.

A report from Fife Council lead consultant in traffic management, Lesley Craig, said: "The location for the raised table has been chosen that maximises visibility for pedestrians.

"A footway link is proposed to be constructed of approximately 40 metres in length and will connect into the existing footway on Ballingry Crescent."

Keen for the measure to be put in place, Councillor Lea McLelland asked how long the process would take.

Fife Council's Keith Johnston responded: "We will get cracking as soon as we can. We will get stuff away to our legal department and as soon as that's back, we can get things programmed.

"It all depends on if we get objections. That may delay things further but hopefully we won't."
