AS they prepare for this year's eagerly awaited Lochgelly Gala, the organisers are calling upon the amazing local community to lend a hand.
Volunteers are essential to ensure the event runs smoothly, on Sunday August 18, and the committee need the help of the public to make it an unforgettable day.
Said committee secretary, Kelly Mackay: “Volunteering at the gala is a wonderful way to give back to your community, meet new people, and have a great time.
"Whether you can offer a few hours, or a whole day, your contribution will be invaluable."
Helping can involve setting up booths, stages and decorations before the event, and then assisting to take everything down afterwards, and also helping provide information, guide guests and offer general assistance throughout the day.
The gala bags are now on sale, and Kelly said that the committee was excited to announce that gala bag tickets at £1.50, and wrist bands at £7, are now available for purchase at the following local outlets: Kooners (now Premier) on Auchterderran Road; Special Occasions; The Man’s Shop; Minto Lounge; Co-op; Hyperclub; Kulture; and West End Morrison's Daily.
The wrist band tickets are for the larger mechanical rides; and the smaller swings, tea-cups etc are free for the younger kids, as are all the inflatables.
Kelly added: “In addition to volunteering, we welcome any donations to support the gala. Every contribution, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated and will help ensure the success of the event.
”We are thrilled to kick-off the gala with a fancy dress competition for kids to be held at West End Park. There will be age groups – up to six years and age 7-12 – and fabulous prizes await the winners with the first prize £30, second £20 and third £10.
“To ensure everyone can participate without a financial burden, the committee has a selection of fancy dress costumes available for borrowing. Costumes are first come first served, so be quick to reserve yours for the day if required."
To sign up as a volunteer, make a donation, or borrow a costume for the fancy dress competition, contact the gala committee on their Facebook page.
Concluded Kelly: “Together, we can create a spectacular event for all to enjoy. The next gala meeting will be held at Torley’s, on Monday June 24, at 6pm, for anyone who would like to come along.
“We thank everyone for their support and enthusiasm. Let's make this gala a memorable celebration!”
