PUPILS at St Joseph's Primary School in Kelty have been hard at work planning and planting a garden to commemorate local miners who died in a pit disaster.
The children have created a garden at the Lindsay Colliery memorial site next to the community centre as part of their work towards attaining the Eco Award Green Flag.
Nine miners lost their lives and 11 were injured as a result of an underground explosion at the coal mine on December 14, 1957.
Together with Kelty Community Council and Kelty Greening, the children have spent time choosing plant types and colours, restoring memorial stones and raising funds from local businesses.
Now, they're inviting their families and community along to celebrate their hard work as they unveil the memorial garden on Wednesday, June 19.
