AT JUST 14 years old, a Crossgates class act has wowed judges in London's famous West End and taken home the top prize from a musical theatre competition.
Aaron MacGregor already has a long list of impressive credits to his name, including appearances in Movies to Musicals, Limelight Productions and the hit show Outlander, he's even featured with Oppenheimer and Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy in the animated movie, Kensuke's Kingdom.
And now he is lighting up the stage after successfully bagging first place in the Junior category at West End Calling - a musical theatre competition at the Arts Theatre in London which aims to find the next generation of stars.
Delighted with his success, Aaron said: "I don't know what to say. I'm shocked, but so happy that I have won.
"The talent was so high and I can't believe the judges picked me. Thank you to everyone for their support."
Competition judges, top industry professionals Freddie King, Jodie Steele, Lauren Drew and Emma Kingston, gave him a standing ovation for his performance of Michael In The Bathroom from Be More Chill.
One tipped him for Broadway and the host of the contest even threw his shoe at the youngster - apparently a sign of the highest respect in the world of musical theatre!
Ashely, Aaron's mum, told the Times: "I couldn't believe it, it was unbelievable.
"He got a standing ovation from all four judges and he got a shoe thrown at him! It basically means total respect in the musical theatre industry, so the man that was hosting it threw it - not threw it at him! He threw it at his feet.
"What a great day it was! A fantastic day, not only to come away and win it but to put Scotland on the map.
"Kids here don't get a chance to sing on the West End stage at all because of the licensing so if you think about it, to go down there, to a West End stage, and win the whole thing out of the UK, Ireland and Jersey, it’s massive. I’m chuffed to bits."
Next, Aaron will be putting his talent to work as he takes on the role of Jean Valjean in Limelight Production's Les Misérables at the Carnegie Hall from June 19-22.
