A Lochore man who was caught carrying a machete in the street failed to compete his unpaid work.

As a result, 33-year-old Robert Gunn, of Ivanhoe Avenue, has appeared back at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for an offence committed almost four years ago.

He previously admitted that on 19th October 2020 at Cleikimin Crescent, Ballingry, he was unlawfully in possession of an offensive weapon, a metal object.

The incident had been captured on CCTV which appeared to show Gunn holding a machete.

Gunn and another man had been spotted in a garden but had got into a car and driven off.

At a court hearing in 2022, defence solicitor Alan Davie said his client had “become involved in a few local grudges.”

At the time of the offence, Gunn had not long been released from prison.

He was sentenced to a community payback order with 100 hours of unpaid work but failed to compete it.

The court was told he was now deemed unfit to carry out his sentence because of mental health issues.

However, when the sheriff checked with a social worker, who had accompanied Gunn to court, she said thought he would be able to do the work.

Sheriff Mark O’Hanlon re-imposed the order with 49 hours of unpaid work and six months to complete it.
