A CARDENDEN community legend will be remembered, this coming Monday, when a children’s football tournament will take place.
The Willie Duncan Memorial Trophy will be competed for at Wallsgreen Park, by pupils from Cardenden, St Ninian’s, Denend and Kinglassie primary schools, with kick off at 9.30am.
This is the third running of the event following the death of Willie, who served on the Cardenden Community Council, the Community Bonfire Committee, the Bowhill Village Fair Committee and the John Thomson football tournament organising committee.
Alex Burns, who worked closely with Willie on all of these organisations, said: “Willie was someone who loved seeing local people enjoying themselves, especially youngsters, and he would be proud to see Monday’s event taking place in his name.”
