FROM Nairobi to Central Fife, that was the tenor of Yolanda Hilton’s lifetime talk to Cowdenbeath Rotary Club last Thursday.
Twice president of the club, she told members that she was born in the Kenyan capital, of Portuguese parents, but was sent to Kent to be educated, and it was the start of the development of her working life.
“I was originally supposed to go into medicine but I found that accountancy was more my scene, and eventually I worked for Tarmac in their accounts section,” she said.
“However, things changed when I got the opportunity to work with Palmer Harvey, the wholesaler, and was involved in confectionery distribution, based in Dunfermline.”
Yolanda added: “I joined Cowdenbeath Rotary Club through a connection with Angelo Valente, and that is over 20 years ago.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the club and it has been really good to get the opportunity to help people in all walks of life.”
