THE Cowdenbeath FC family has lost a popular figure with the death of Willie Jones.
Club secretary, David Allan, said this week: “On Tuesday, May 7, Cowdenbeath FC said farewell to one of our own, as life-long fan Willie Jones paid his final visit to Central Park, with his funeral procession lapping the pitch en-route to his final resting place.
“Thereafter, at Willie’s funeral, the family organised for a collection to be taken with the funds raised to be donated to Cowdenbeath FC – ‘Willie would have liked that’ it was stated.
“The sum of £242 was raised and the family then arranged for these monies to be given to Cowdenbeath FC."
David added: “The funds were most gratefully received and we can only say we are humbled by the dedication of fans such as Willie and this extremely kind gesture by the family at this sad time.
“Willie will be missed by us at Central Park, but will never be forgotten, as a True Blue Brazilian – a supporter who always stuck by his club”.
