PLANS are well advanced for the 2024 Lochgelly Gala Day, with the committee aiming to make this year’s parade one of the best ever.
As they gear up for another exciting year for the big community day, the Lochgelly Gala Committee would like to take a moment to extend their deepest gratitude to all the volunteers and donors who made last year's event a resounding success.
Gala committee secretary, Kelly Mackay, said that the unwavering public support and generosity allowed the group of volunteers to bring joy and celebration to the community, and for that, they were truly thankful.
Looking to the 2024 event, she added: “As we look ahead to this year's Gala, we find ourselves facing new challenges.
“The costs associated with organising such a grand event have risen considerably, with the total budget now surpassing £25,000. In light of these financial constraints, we must make some adjustments to ensure the Gala remains feasible and accessible to all.
“Firstly, the committee regret to inform the public that we will be unable to provide gazebos or tables this year. We understand that this may inconvenience some attendees, but we hope people can appreciate the necessity of this decision, given the current circumstances. We encourage everyone to come prepared by bringing their own seating arrangements.
“Additionally, we must announce an increase in the pitch price from £10 to £15. This adjustment is essential to help offset the rising costs of entertainment, and other essential expenses. We sincerely hope for the public’s understanding and continued support in light of these changes."
Kelly continued: “Despite these challenges, the committee remain committed to hosting a Gala that is fun, inclusive, and memorable for all.
“The date for this year's event is set for Sunday August 18, and we are working tirelessly to ensure it is a day to remember.
“With this in mind, we are excited to announce that we are inviting members of our community to join us in creating floats to participate in the parade. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals, families, and groups to showcase their creativity and community spirit. We encourage everyone to get involved!
“However, we cannot achieve this alone. We are once again reaching out to our community for help. Whether through volunteering your time, making a donation, or simply spreading the word, every contribution makes a difference.
“Your support will not only ensure the success of this year's Gala, but will also help us continue to strengthen our community bonds and create lasting memories for years to come.
“We say thank you once again to all our dedicated volunteers and generous donors. Together, we can make this year's Gala our best one yet!”
