WORK is underway on the building of 19 new affordable homes in Cowdenbeath.
It's on the site of the former Valley House care home, on Hill Street, which was closed and later demolished in 2018.
Robertson Homes, in partnership with Fife Council, are constructing four flats and 15 affordable homes with gardens and it's hoped they'll be finished by September 2025.

Work began yesterday (Monday) and Cowdenbeath councillor Darren Watt said: "I am delighted to say that work has commenced for 19 social rent (council) properties where the Valley House retirement complex was previously situated.
"It will bring a mixture of two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom properties, and includes a mix of bungalows, terraced, and semi-detached houses, as well as townhouses and cottage flats."
Plans were first submitted in January 2022 and later approved but a fresh application was tabled due to an amendment to the proposed drainage scheme.
The Tory councillor added: "Robertson Homes are the developer overseeing the project and are contracted for 79 weeks with an anticipated completion date of September 12, 2025.
"The footpath between the High Street (by Moorelands Travel) and Hill Street will be closed during these works.
"These houses will be a very welcome addition and have been sympathetically designed to complement the area as well as meet the overall needs of the local social rent market."
A Fife Council report said the proposal includes three bungalows, two blocks of terraced two-storey houses, one block of semi-detached two storey houses, one block of semi-detached three storey townhouses and four flats (four in a block).
There will be one vehicle access from Hill Street as well as car parking and landscaping works.
