THE A909 bridge between Cowdenbeath and Mossmorran will be closed over five days.
Fife Council completed resurfacing work on the road in November and Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will now replace expansion joints.
The bridge carries traffic over the A92 and it will be shut from Friday 15 to Tuesday March 19.
A spokesperson for Amey said: "The installation of new bridge expansion joints is required to ensure the integrity of the structure and help maintain the condition of the new road surface.
"To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the essential maintenance will be undertaken using a full road closure, both on the structure and extending approximately 20 metres in either direction of the structure.

"During the works the right turn lane on both the eastbound and westbound off-slips from the A92 to the bridge will also be closed.
"Traffic will be diverted along the A92 to the next junction - eastbound to Lochgelly, westbound to Crossgates - where traffic can turn and return back along the A92."
Traffic management is scheduled to be in place between 7pm on March 15 to 6am on March 19.
Last year Cowdenbeath councillor Darren Watt said the condition of the road was "unacceptable" and slammed the delays in carrying out improvements.
He said the problem was that the council are responsible for the road surface of the A909 but Amey are in charge of the bridge and repairs were needed on both, with neither seeming to want to take the first step.
Cllr Watt had fumed: "While they're humming and hawing about what to do it's local residents and commuters who are suffering as the road is in such a serious state of disrepair it's borderline dangerous."
Now both jobs are set to be completed and the Amey spokesperson added: "Due to the works nature and complexity, as well as safety purposes, the bridge will be closed to pedestrians, cyclists and emergency services for the whole duration.
"All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable."
