A TRANSGENDER inmate once deemed too dangerous to go on trial in Alloa has died in custody, prison authorities confirmed.
Tiffany Scott, previously known as Andrew Burns, from Kinglassie, died in HMP Grampian on Thursday, February 29.
In 2017, Scott was sentenced for assaulting prison staff at HMP Glenochil after she attacked four guards and a nurse.
She also staged a dirty protest at the Clackmannanshire jail and was at the time due to face trial at the court in Alloa, but security measures were said to be insufficient with the case moved to Falkirk Sheriff Court.
The 32-year-old was serving an indefinite sentence as she was subject to an order for lifelong restriction when she passed away.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “Tiffany Scott, 32, of HMP Grampian has died on February 29, 2024.
“With each death in custody, Police Scotland are advised and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
“Fatal Accident Inquiries are held in due course.”
When sentenced in 2017, Scott appeared shirtless at Falkirk and hurled abuse at the sheriff as she was led from the dock.
It followed incidents between August and October 2015 while Scott was in a segregation unit in Glenochil.
At the time, prison staff were complying with her requests that she should be known as "Mighty Almighty", or Obi Wan Kenobi.
Being subject to an order for lifelong restriction, Scott was only going to be released when she was no longer considered an “unmanageable risk to public safety”.
She had a string of convictions for crimes including assaults, vandalism and resisting arrests.
In 2010, Scott assaulted a nurse when escaping a hospital in Crewe, Cheshire.
Three years later, Scott also admitted stalking a 13-year-old girl by sending her letters from her cell at Polmont Prison, near Falkirk.
