A COWDENBEATH councillor has called for "significant" funding for the town's parks, streets and open spaces.
Councillor Darren Watt believes that the lack of proper financial support for these public places is stifling their potential, for example, Cowdenbeath's Public Park.
He told the Times: "Cowdenbeath Public Park is a good example of somewhere that's got so much potential and opportunity but is sadly not at the standards it should and could be."
Cllr Watt blames the lack of funding there to be able to properly tackle littering and anti-social behaviour in the village.
He feels that with proper funding, they would be able to hire more grounds workers to clean up the public park's act, which in turn would encourage people to look after their community.
He added: "It is one of those areas that myself and several of my colleagues are pushing for this next financial year, to ensure that there is significant funding added to such areas as the parks, streets and open spaces so that we’ve actually got cleaner and tidier areas that we can enjoy with our families."
