Further damage has been caused by vandals at Cowdenbeath Public Park, adding to a long list of anti-social behaviour crimes in the area.
The latest incident involved a wheelie bin being stolen and set alight in the park.
Concerns about on-going vandalism and anti-social behaviour were raised again at the Cowdenbeath Community Council meeting earlier this month, with councillors and police agreeing that something has to be done and a multi-partner and multi-agency approach is needed.
Cowdenbeath councillor Darren Watt told the Times: "There is no doubt that the ongoing vandalism and anti-social behaviour plaguing our town and surrounding villages is well and truly at the top of my agenda. I will be pursuing a robust and decisive approach to tackle these ongoing issues and concerns.
“Quite frankly, local people have had enough of meaningless chatter and idle actions. They want a stop to this, and I am determined to work with all relevant partners and agencies with a view of putting an end to it once and for all."
There have been several fires in the public park recently, while the World War One memorial has been another target area for vandals, with wheelie bins also being set on fire at that location.
Speaking recently, Sergeant John Nicol, from Cowdenbeath Police Station, said: “We are aware of a recent rise in reports of youths involved in anti-social behaviour in the Cowdenbeath area.
“We are working closely with Fife Council Safer Communities Team and a number of partner agencies to address these issues. Our patrols will continue with officers providing reassurance to the local community as well as engaging with young people to discourage this type of behaviour.
“We are committed to supporting the local community and will take the appropriate action when incidents are reported, and offenders identified."
Anyone witnessing any incidents should contact the police by calling 101 or online via www.scotland.police.uk.
