A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with a drugs offence during ongoing inquiries into the death of a teenager in Ballingry last weekend.

Jake 'Jay' Jones (16) was rushed to Victoria Hospital on Sunday, October 29, after he took unwell at a property in Kirkland Avenue, but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. 

Police are currently carrying out investigations into the circumstances surrounding Jake's death, while the teenager's sister Francesca Louise has paid tribute to her "bubbly and funny" little brother, saying she will never be able to get over losing him.

A statement issued by Police Scotland last night says: "Around 11.55am on Sunday, 29 October, we were made aware of a 16-year-old male youth having taken unwell on Kirkland Avenue in Ballingry.

"He was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment but died a short time later.

"His death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

"A 14-year-old male youth has since been arrested and charged in connection with a drugs offence and released pending further enquiries. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
