AN APPEAL has been made for volunteers to help a long-standing charity which aims to support senior citizens in Central Fife.

The Lochore Old People's Welfare Council was set up over 60 years ago and has been providing pensioners with Christmas parties and summer outings over the years.

However its chairperson, Joe Paterson, has warned the organisation is currently facing "questionable" times and is hoping fresh blood will come forward.

"What is needed is additional members to the committee because I am touching 90 years old," he explained. "We are only four in a committee and we are not in the best of health. We are just looking for people who could come in and give us a hand.

"If we don't get people, it will be closing down and we will distribute the funds – it is as simple as that.

"There isn't a lot going on at the present time. We are down to the Christmas party and the summer drive."
